Article in The Pink Sheet highlights The Bruckner Group's industry leadership on healthcare value issues and strategy
An article published in the December 1, 2008 edition of The Pink Sheet highlights The Bruckner Group's industry leadership in healthcare value issues and strategy. The article, entitled "New Drugs for Rare Diseases Face Higher Reimbursement Hurdles," extensively quotes Bruckner partner David Balekdjian. The article discusses how payers are now scrutinizing new cancer, HIV, and rare disease treatments for their healthcare value. This is a significant change from previous practices, in which these diseases were largely exempted from this scrutinization. Further, the article highlights the industry-leading approach that Bruckner has developed, which effectively and cost-efficiently helps companies develop and maximize the healthcare value of their therapeutics. See the press release of even date (below) for more information.

American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) invites Bruckner partner David Balekdjian to speak at its annual national meeting on: "The Exubera Case: What Lessons Does It Hold For Future Drug Developments"
The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) invited Bruckner partner David Balekdjian to make a speech at its annual conference in Atlanta. David's speech is entitled "The Exubera Case: What Lessons Does It Hold For Future Drug Developments?"
In his speech, David Balekdjian presents a case study of Exubera's failure (which The Bruckner Group predicted in a very high profile article published in Business Week at the time of Exubera's launch in February 2006). Further, the speech summarizes the lessons that Exubera's failure make clear and which should guide new drug developments. And finally, the speech presents a specific framework for how pharma and biotech companies need to develop new drugs so that payers' healthcare value and other needs are addressed (alongside the needs of the FDA, physicians, and patients), so that at launch, the drug will have a differentiating and compelling healthcare value proposition that fully aligns with the market.

Inadequate Response to Managed Markets Challenges Poses High Revenue Risk for Pharma and Biotech Companies, According to Business Week Article by Two Bruckner Group Partners
Business Week has published an article by two Bruckner Group partners in the Outside Shot column in the June 19, 2006 issue, entitled "Drugmakers: A Dose of Reality." The article describes how many pharma and biotech companies have failed to evolve, simply not incorporating solid valid propositions at a pace and level commensurate to the health insurance industry’s incremental rollout of cost-conscious drug management efforts. As a result, emergent managed markets strategies have throttled many drug manufacturers’ business models. The article further explains why BGI’s approach to solving this problem, outcomes-based access (OBA), can help drugmakers meet the challenges of the managed markets channel, overcome access restrictions, and prove the value of their drugs. See the press release of June 14, 2006, for more information.

Business Week Article by BGI Partners Indicates Exubera Market Performance Likely to Disappoint Pfizer Stakeholders.
In an article published in Business Week, Bruckner Group Partners Michael J. Russo and David Balekdjian apply an outcomes-based access (OBA) analysis to Pfizer's Exubera, with the conclusion that Exubera's market performance is likely to disappoint Pfizer stakeholders because Exubera offers an unacceptable value proposition to payers. Exubera is used in this article as a case study for the type of OBA analysis that should be conducted to prepare for new product launches, in order to maximize market acceptance, uptake, and success. See the press release of February 15, 2006, for more information.

Business Week Publishes Article by Two Bruckner Group Partners in June 19, 2006 Issue
The Bruckner Group is pleased to announce that Business Week magazine has published a second article by two Bruckner Group partners, David Balekdjian and Michael J. Russo. The article, entitled "Drugmakers: A Dose of Reality," appears in the Outside Shot column in the June 19, 2006 issue. The article describes how many pharma and biotech companies have failed to evolve at a pace and level commensurate to the health insurance industry’s incremental rollout of cost-conscious drug management efforts. The lack of a proactive commensurate response to these challenges poses a high revenue risk to manufacturers, due to the outcomes-based restrictions payers are implementing. It further explains why BGI’s approach to solving this problem, outcomes-based access (OBA), can help drugmakers meet the challenges of the managed markets channel, overcome access restrictions, and prove the value of their drugs.
